After becoming familiar with shoes from observation drawing, students used their brains to do some serious innovating! Each student went through an idea development process to invent their own shoe. Students were to consider both the function and aesthetic quality of their shoe and some fantasy elements were incorporated. In order to sell our shoe, students designed a print advertisement that would be found in a magazine. We looked at different ways to sell our product including typography, color schemes, slogans, and visual elements.
Sixth graders came up with a mantra or resolution for the new year (2017) and used different typography and watercolor techniques to achieve their results.
